How To Join
(For local participants & teams)
Team Eligibility & Grouping
Who Can Apply
- All students, alumni, researchers and professors of the co-organising universities and institutions are welcome to join
- You are allowed and encouraged to form teams with members from different co-organising universities and institutions
- Each individual member can only participate in only one team in the current edition of Hong Kong Techathon+
- The submitted project must not have won a Gold, Silver, or Bronze award in the past three editions of Hong Kong Techathon+
- All team formation and pitch deck submission shall be made through the Techathon+ portal by January 11, 2027 at 23:59
- All submitted materials must be truthful, legal, complete, and original. Participants shall bear all responsibilities and consequences for any plagiarism, fraud, or misappropriation
- The Co-organisers reserve the right, at its sole discretion, to approve or reject any application without any reason and without incurring any liability to any participant
Team Eligibility & Groups

Student Group
- Core team members must be current full-time undergraduate from the co-organizing universities and institutions (Students from higher diploma programmes from Vocational Training Council are welcome to join)
- Each team must include 2 - 6 members
- Research postgraduates/ researchers/ professors can be the team’s advisors, but not as core project members & directors
- Undergraduate science, engineering or ICT final year/ capstone projects are welcome to join. The student shall provide the academic supervisor/s of your corresponding projects
- The submitted projects have NOT received any prior funding support from HKSTP under any of its incubation programmes (including, but not limited to Ideation, Incubation, Incu-Bio, Acceleration)

Deep Tech & Open Group
- Open to all students and alumni of different educational levels from the co-organizing universities and institutions
- Each team must include 2 - 6 members. Solo entries are not permitted
- Professor-led research projects and research postgraduate projects (MPhil/ PhD) with market and commercialization potentials to become startup ventures are welcome
- The submitted projects can/ could be under the support from HKSTP under any of its incubation programmes (including, but not limited to Ideation, Incubation, Incu-Bio, Acceleration)

- You can start a team and recruit members, or join existing teams on the Platform

Submit Your Project
- Assign a Team Leader

- AI + Life & Health Technology
- AI + Sustainability & New Energy
- AI + Digital Economy & Smart City
- AI + Advanced Manufacturing & Microelectronics
- Submit Your Pitch: a PowerPoint (.ppt or .pptx) or PDF (.pdf) file, with a minimum of 10 pages and a maximum of 20 pages, including but not limited to cover page and appendix. You may present it in English or Chinese, depending on which best conveys your idea

Final Submission – Final chance to join the Finale!
- Deadline of Team Formation & Pitch Deck Submission: January 11, 2027 at 23:59
- Shortlisted teams will be notified by January 25, 2027 via portal notification email. Team leaders shall confirm your team’s participation to the Finale of Hong Kong Techathon+ by responding to the Techathon+ Portal
- All Finalist Teams will be required to join the Finale of Hong Kong Techathon+ 11th Edition at Hong Kong Science Park scheduled for January 28-31, 2027
